Instructional Design

We are Learning Beings

As human beings, we are constantly learning, whether we realise it or not. In fact I doubt there is a time where we’re not learning. Learning happens through our experiences, both good and bad; through the things we see around us and hear about. We learn in our quiet moments as we reflect on life. And we learn in our social interactions and conversations with others. And sometimes we even learn through training courses.

We develop a Learning Experience

No matter how well the theory is understood, application of learning gained in artificial circumstances is difficult. Classroom learning is perhaps 10% of the requirement; people learn to do things by doing them, and the greater proportion of their knowledge is provided by experience. Providing a learning experience is the role of the Instructional Designer: help the learners make sense of new information they need to perform in their role.
